Griffith Bag Company was founded in Harrisonburg in 1953 by Lynn Griffith. Lynn drove from farm to farm to collect old burlap bags, which would then be cleaned, repaired and sewn into new products. Farms and businesses throughout the Shenandoah Valley knew they could rely on Griffith Bag Company for high-quality burlap supplies and customer service with a personal touch.

New Owners, Same Local Service

In 2019, after 35 years of marriage and raising 2 grown sons, Mike and Melanie Smith were ready for a new adventure.

Learning that owner Greg Griffith was selling, they purchased Griffith Bag Company and vowed to help it survive. Originally from Pittsburgh, the pair moved to the Shenandoah Valley, rolled up their sleeves and got to work.

In the years since purchasing Griffith Bag Company, Mike and Melanie have fostered growth throughout the company while maintaining the commitment to service that clients have relied upon for decades. Despite being new owners, they are committed to preserving and enriching the relationships that have made Griffith Bag Company a success, so that it can continue to thrive for decades to come.
